Obituary for Sarah Cook

Sarah Cook
A memorial service for Sarah Althea Cook will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday, March 14, at St. Paul’s Episcopal Church, 510 West Main St. in Franklin.

Ms. Cook, 69, a highly respected retired critical care nurse, died Friday, March 9, at Williamson Medical Center, where she worked for more than 20 years.

Survivors include sons, Robert (Bobby) (Kristin Ingold) Cook, of Franklin; and Gerald (J.D.) (Joanne) Harp of Phoenix, AZ.; four grandchildren, Garrett and Landon Harp, Summer Hilliard, and Riley Cook; and two great-grandchildren, Alyssa and Attie Harp.

Ms. Cook was preceded in death by her parents, Robert and Catherine Cook, who was stricken with Parkinson’s disease and confined to A wheelchair. During Sarah’s teen years, she lived in Buenos Aires, Argentina, where her father was president of RCA Records International. She frequently substituted for her mother as hostess at RCA social events for recording stars and other industry managers and executives. It was while watching how lovingly and expertly the nurses cared for her mother that Sarah decided to become a nurse herself.

She received a Bachelor of Science degree in Nursing at Victor Valley College (CA.). After the death of her mother, Sarah and her father moved to Franklin in the early 1990s and quickly became involved in the community.

Visitation with the family will be from 4-8 p.m. Tuesday, March 13, at Williamson Memorial Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to The Parkinson’s Foundation. http://parkinson.org/ways-togive.
