Mr. Adrian Royce Booy, of Murfreesboro, TN, died on September 6, 2014. Survived by: daughter, Samantha Booy; his family, Lisa Booy, Joe Bob & Suzi Barnhill; Leslee Hawthorne & family; Joe Barnhill & family. Adrian was born in Newport News, VA to Alta and Ted Booy. As a young child, Adrian moved several times until he settled in his adopted "home state" of Florida. He spent his early years as a successful athlete participating in surfing, baseball and football. During high school he played the drums in a local band which led to his playing as the drummer with The Left Bank and played on their Number 1 hit "Don't Walk Away Renee". At 17 years old, Adrian convinced his father to authorize his enlistment in the U.S. Army. He served in Vietnam and was wounded during his tour. He was a decorated veteran and was awarded and honored with the National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Service Medal w/2 Campaign Stars, Good Conduct Medal, Expert Badge (M14), First Class (Hand Grenade), One Overseas Service Bar, and a Vietnam Campaign Medal. After his service in the Army, he returned home to Florida where he played College football. He lived in Colorado and California before beginning his sales and marketing career with the Tennessee Press Association. He later worked for L.M. Berry Company, Rutledge Hill Press, Cumberland Press,and Pelican Press. As a young adult he enjoyed employment as a model and as an actor in several local and national TV commercials. Adrian married Lisa Barnhill and joined the Barnhill family in 1989. Although they were divorced in 2008, their friendship continued through the years. He also cherished and maintained a deep love of the Barnhill family. But his greatest love and source of joy and pride was his daughter, Samantha. He boasted to every person who came in contact with him of his cherished, precious and treasured daughter. Adrian had a deep love of animals, he enjoyed hosting and providing hospitality to others and a good laugh. He will be missed. Memorial services will be conducted 11:30 AM Thursday at Williamson Memorial Funeral Home, Dr. Lynn Hill officiating. Inurnment will be 1:00 PM Thursday at Middle Tennessee Veterans Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the Wounded Warrior Project.
