Alex Thomas "Al" Couch, Jr., 89, of Maury County, Tennessee, passed away on December 10, 2020, in Columbia, Tennessee.
Al was born in Winfield, Alabama, on March 26, 1931, to the late Alex T. Couch, Sr. and Jeffie Lee Couch. He is preceded in death by his brothers and sisters, Robert Lee (Dorothy) Couch, Ola Sue (Charles) Couch, John Thomas (Ruby) Couch, Naomi Grey (Kelcy) Couch, Dorothy Ann (Billy) Couch, and Martha Earle (Earl) Couch, and is survived by his sister Norma Jean (James) Couch.
He served in the United States Navy, where he met and married the late Naomi (Noni) Couch on November 3, 1953. He graduated from what is now known as the University of North Alabama, and worked as a district manager for pharmaceutical sales for Lederle Laboratories.
Al served as a deacon and elder in a number of churches, including as a founder and elder of Pinewood Presbyterian Church in Orange Park, Florida. Al was intensely supportive of Christian missions and was nicknamed "Monterrey Jack" for his frequent trips to Mexico in support of church development.
Al is survived by his daughters, Laura (Bryan) Echols, and Linda (Jim) Belli, his grandchildren Tyler (Amber) Echols, Brad (Lea) Echols, Ellyn Echols, Seth Brooks and Lydia Brooks, and five great grandchildren.
Visitation will be held at Williamson Memorial Funeral Home, 3009 Columbia Avenue, Franklin, Tennessee, at 11:00 a.m. on December 17, 2020, with a memorial service to be held at 12:00 p.m. immediately thereafter, with Pastor John Findlay and Rod Whited officiating. Private burial will be held at Middle Tennessee Veterans Cemetery.
