Andrew David Burns passed away on January 28th, 2015. He was a loving son, a thoughtful brother, and a loyal friend. He pursued learning throughout his life and his insatiable curiosity found a home in a wide variety of interests and pursuits. His passions included salsa dancing, classical music, cricket, stand-up comedy, piano, ice skating and tennis.
He was a member of the Father Ryan High School marching band during his high school years, and later earned a Bachelor of Science degree from Middle Tennessee State University. After graduating from college, he worked in a series of university laboratories, and had planned on pursuing studies in neuroscience at the doctoral level.
For all his fascination with science, Andrew maintained a sensitive heart, and demonstrated compassion and empathy for anyone going through difficult times. He could always be depend-ed on to faithfully meet loved ones where they were without judgment. He will be lovingly re-membered for his kindness, his sense of humor, and his humility. And he will be deeply missed.
He is survived by his parents, Dr. David and Jan Burns of Franklin; his sister and brother-in-law, Elizabeth and Olaf Wasternack of Franklin; and his brother Philip, also of Franklin. He is pre-ceded in death by grandparents, Donald and Joyce Ikerd, and Robert and Faye Burns.
His life will be celebrated by family and friends on Saturday, January 31st, from 1:00-5:00pm at his parent's home.
