Anita Faye Still Haynes, age 80 of Murfreesboro, TN and formerly of Franklin, TN passed away September 24, 2023. She was born on October 5, 1942 to the late Tom and Marie Still; also preceded in death by brothers, T.L. Still and Charlie Still. Survived by: husband, David Haynes; son, Tommy (Traci) Garner; daughter, Donna (Jeff) Hickman; sister, Hazel (Jeffrey) Givens; grandson, Jake (Caitlin) Cravens and great grandson, Bodhi Cravens and other loving family members. Everybody called her “Nita” and she loved to laugh and make other people laugh. She liked “doing hair”! Early on she began cutting her own hair and her doll’s hair. At 13 she wanted to be the first girl in town to have a “flat top” haircut. She made a few scissor chops on the front part, before her mother arrived home from work. Together they went to the men’s barber shop on 4th Avenue in Franklin, TN. Barber Carroll Noland finished her haircut and “the flat top” looked good. In Home Economics class at Franklin High School, when the teacher would leave the room, Nita would get out her comb and “fix hair” for her friends. After high school, she went to cosmetology school in Nashville and worked in beauty shops in Franklin. She spent two years in Boston, MA teaching classes and returned to live in Murfreesboro, TN. She managed and operated a Hair 5-O until retirement. She loved things of beauty and her natural skills of decorating and design were displayed in her home with David. Arrangements of antique furniture, majolica and porcelains, plus portraits of family members decorated her space. Flowers of all types, filled her yard and places for birds to eat and nest were all around. All work is done now, time to rest! At Nita’s request, there will be not be visitation or funeral.
