Anna Hoving Benthem was born on July 1, 1921 in Meppel in the Netherlands. She graduated from Medical School, lived in Amsterdam and worked in a maternity and infant welfare center.
Anna married Willem Hoving in 1949 and they raised three daughters Frederike, Linda and Sandra. They have six grandchildren, Sander, Rian, Kathleen, Lisette, Anina and Duncan. This year in May Anna was at the wedding of her oldest granddaughter Kathleen and saw granddaughter Lisette getting married in the Netherlands in October through Facetime.
Anna's parents owned a gentleman's clothing store and she had two brothers and two sisters. Her older sister died when Anna was only nine days old, Pieterke was four.
Anna came to the USA in 1980 and lived in Kingwood, Texas. A few years after her husband died she moved closer to her daughter Sandra in Franklin Tennessee.
Anna made quilts, needlepoint samplers and crocheted many granny-squares. She was runner up in a Dutch national Ikebana flower arranging competition and loved to cook.
Anna outlived her husband for nine years and a day. She died at home on Dec 10, 2017 after a short sickbed with the flu.
