Annie Rachelle Kestenberg, born January 29, 1946 in Los Angeles, California, died September 10, 2014 in Franklin, Tennessee. She is survived by her loving husband Mike O'Neal, her brothers Jack Pearlman (Pat) and Leon Pearlman, one nephew, and an extensive network of loving friends. She was preceded in death by parents Belle and Harry Pearlman, and first husband Jerry Kestenberg.
Annie graduated from California State University, Long Beach and enjoyed a long career as a bilingual (Spanish-English) grade school teacher in the Los Angeles Unified School District. After retirement, Annie moved to Franklin, Tennessee where she became an active member of the Williamson County Newcomer's Club.
She was also a member of Congregation Micah in Brentwood, and loved her weekly Mah Jongg game.
Annie was a passionate animal advocate and dedicated volunteer for the Los Angeles Zoo, and later for Happy Tales Humane (Franklin).
She fought valiantly against cancer for over 40 years, and considered herself a survivor. She loved shopping, theatre, travel, and her dogs Sophie, Shanah, and Shiloh.
A celebration of life is planned for Monday, September 15, 2014 at 6:30 pm at Westhaven Community Center, Franklin, Tennessee. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to a charity of your choice, or to animal organizations such as Happy Tales Humane.
