Mrs. Barbara F. Pennington passed into the loving care of God our Father on June 15, 2015 at age 82. She was the daughter of William G. and Bessie C. Fleming of Chattanooga, TN, both deceased. She is survived by her husband, James A. Pennington and children, James F. Pennington, Nancy Z. Pennington, William S. Pennington and his wife Vesi, and grandson J.T. Zelaska. Barbara graduated from Chattanooga City High School and attended the University of Chattanooga, Tennessee where she was a member of the Pi Beta Phi Sorority and The International Relations Club. She married James A. Pennington in 1953 shortly after he graduated from the University. While in Germany with her husband, she was Chairman of the Gray Ladies in the U.S. Army Military Hospital in Augsburg, Germany and a model in fashion shows. She and her husband took this opportunity to vacation in most of the European countries. Upon her return to the states, she was active in PEO, Presbyterian Church Women's Organizations and the Harpeth Bend Garden Club in Franklin. She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Franklin, Tennessee. Barbara had a beautiful, well trained, soft singing voice. She loved to read novels and murder mysteries. She was a devout Christian. But most of all, she loved her husband, children and grandchild dearly. In lieu of flowers, her family requests that donations be made to the First Presbyterian Church, 101 Legends Club Lane, Franklin, TN 37069. Visitation will be held on Sunday, June 21, 2015, 4-7PM at Williamson Memorial Funeral Home, 3009 Columbia Ave, Franklin, TN 37064. A Celebration of Life Service will be held in her honor on Monday, June 22, 2015, 1:00PM at the First Presbyterian Church, Rev. Chris Joiner presiding.
