Betti O'Neill

Betti O'Neill, age 88 of Franklin, TN passed away December 13, 2017. Preceded in death by husband, James J. O'Neill. Survived by: son, Patrick O'Neill of Benicia, CA; daughter, Margaret "Peggy" (Walt) Goss of Brentwood, TN; grandchildren, Sarah Megan Goss of Memphis, TN and James Alexander Goss of New York City, NY; special cousin, Oscar Scheck of Schwanstetten, Germany. Betti was born in Nuremberg, Germany May 20, 1929 and experienced the ravages of World War II as her hometown was nearly destroyed by bombs. The end of the war brought Betti and Jim together at the American Hospital in Nuremberg. After their marriage in 1952, Betti moved to the United States with her husband and embarked on a life as an Army wife. After Jim's retirement from the Army, they settled in Richmond, Virginia where they were devoted members of St. Benedict's Catholic Church. After the death of her husband of nearly 60 years, Betti moved to Tennessee to be with her daughter, son-in-law and grandchildren. A Funeral Mass will be conducted at 11:30 Saturday December 23, 2017 at the historic chapel of St. Philips Catholic Church in Franklin, TN.
