Bettye Harper

Mrs. Bettye Jain Anderson Harper, age 89 of Franklin, TN passed away August 4, 2016. She had a love for life and was a faithful member of Brentwood Church of Christ. Bettye received her Bachelors Degree from David Lipscomb and Masters Degree from Tennessee State University. She taught school at Northside Jr. High and Brentwood High Schools, was past president of WCEA, a member of the Retired Teachers Association, and charter member of the Drug Advocacy Program (STARS) at Brentwood High School. After retirement she was a tutor for the Adult Literacy Program with Williamson County and was involved in the early development of Pull Tight Players as an actress and director. She was a devoted Mother and Mamaw to her loving family. Preceded in death by husband, Herbert Lee Harper; parents, Lester and Lola Burt Anderson and sister, Anne Eason. Survived by: sons, Herbert L. "Herb" (Pam) Harper and Danny M. (Tammy) Leverette; daughters, Lois (Steve) Peden, Lola (Steve) Loring, Margaret (Ray) Curtis and Melissa (Gary) Orr; grandchildren, Brad Peden, Brooke Kalb, Lindsay King, Whitney Loring, Don Curtis, Kim Stotler, Jessica Curtis, Al, Curt & Ellen Harper, Andrew & Anderson Leverette, Meleah & Abby Orr and sixteen great grandchildren. Funeral services will be conducted 1:00 PM Tuesday, August 9, 2016 at Brentwood Church of Christ, David Thomley officiating. Visitation will be from 11:00 AM until service time at the church on Tuesday. Interment Mt. Hope Cemetery. Grandsons will serve as active pallbearers and Great Grandsons as honorary pallbearers. The family want to express their special thanks to her loving caregivers.
