Billy (Bill) J. Cook age 81 of Franklin, TN passed away from an extended illness on January 16th, 2014. He was born July 9, 1932 in Liberty, TN to the late Valter and Pearl Cook.
Bill graduated from East High School in Nashville in 1951. He was a veteran of the United States Air Force serving 4 years in Intelligence and Communications with a top secret security clearance. He then attended Howard College (now Samford University) School of Pharmacy in Birmingham, AL and graduated in 1959.
In 1964, he purchased Sandlin Drug Company on Main Street in Franklin, TN and he continued to practice as a pharmacist for 51 years.
Bill was a member of First Baptist Church/The People's Church in Franklin, TN since 1964. In recent years as a member of John Reynolds Sunday school class.
He is survived by his loving wife of 56 years, Ruth (Ruthie) Klausmeier Cook of Franklin, TN, daughter Jill Cook Fagan of Franklin, sons Dr. W. Gregory Cook, MD (Joy) and Dr. Jeff W. Cook, MD (Julie) both of Franklin, TN; seven beautiful grandchildren: Ashley Fagan, Taylor Fagan, Ryan Cook, Brandon Cook, Katie Cook, Abby Cook, and Mitch Cook. Sisters: Vena Agee of Mt. Juliet, TN, Christine Gragson of Donelson, TN, and Ruth Carson (Glenn) of Mt. Juliet, TN. Sister-in-law Cyanna Klausmeier of Palm Springs, CA and brother-in-law Jack Klausmeier of Nashville, TN. As well as numerous loving nieces, nephews, family members and friends.
A Celebration of Life Memorial Service will be conducted on Saturday, January 18th at 1:00 pm at The People's Church in Franklin, TN with Dr. Richard White officiating.
Visitation will be held on Friday, January 17th from 4:00 pm to 8:00 pm at the People's Church in Franklin as well as one hour prior to the service.
Interment will follow at Williamson Memorial Gardens in Franklin, TN. Grandsons and Trey Vaughn and Jon Coggins will serve as pallbearers.
The family would like to extend a special expression of gratitude to all the loving and caring staff at Morningside of Franklin and Willowbrook Hospice. You have been a blessing to our family over the past year. Also, a special thank you to all the wonderful and dedicated physicians who cared for Bill over the past 12 years with a special thank you to Dr. Sam Bastian, MD.
