Mr. Calvin Kenneth Phifer, age 96 of Franklin, TN passed away September 20, 2019. Calvin was a blessing from God and a beloved father and grandfather. Born in Lewisburg, TN, Calvin set an example of how to live a simple life. He was a member of Beech Grove United Methodist Church in Whites Creek, TN. Calvin was in the 36th Infantry In World War II and sieged in D-Day on the banks of Normandy. A recipient of the Purple Heart and Bronze Star medal of honor. Calvin then graduated from Draughon's Business College and began a career as a TVA Accountant. He attended wood working school and completed his appetenceship at David's Cabinet Company. He was a cabinet maker at General Shoes and the Nashville Metropolitan school system. Preceded in death by his loving wife, Edna Smith Phifer, and son, Calvin Kenneth Phifer Jr. He is survived by his daughter, Mary Ann Fowlkes, his grandchildren, Michelle Garrett, Kenneth Fowlkes, and Leslie Ann Blihovde, as well as his great grandchildren, Josie Garrett, Avery Mae Blihovde, and Tate Blihovde; brothers, Butch (Sue) Phifer, Phil (Faye) Phifer, and Jack Phifer; sisters, Sue Harwell, Dot Phifer, and Linda Doug Shadcy. Visitation will be held at 8-10 AM on Wednesday, September 25, 2019 at Williamson Memorial Funeral home. He will be laid to rest at Middle Tennessee State Veterans Cemetery. Grandchildren and nephews to serve as pallbearers. In lieu of flowers, donations may go to the Tennessee State Veterans Home in Murfreesboro, TN.
