PETERSEN, Mrs. Carol Diane Kohler, age 61 of Franklin, TN, was accepted into our Lord's house on October 9, 2011. "In memory of a life so beautifully lived and a heart so deeply loved." Married to Robert Petersen the love of her life on May 31, 1975, at Concordia Lutheran Church in Benedict, North Dakota and then their son Bryan was born in 1980. The family lived in Eau Claire, WI for 25 years before moving to the Franklin area in 2002 for job and retirement reasons. Graduate of Max (North Dakota) High School in 1968 and from Minot State University with a degree in Education in 1972. Carol's love of children was expressed throughout her teaching career. Carol taught at Harvey, ND, and St. Olaf's Catholic School (Eau Claire) and Eau Claire Public Schools in WI. Later employed at Williamson County TN Public School and also by Franklin TN Special School District. She worked with autistic children during her last job finally retiring in 2010 due to ill health. Carol had a special gift of making friends easily and was known for her precious smile. She loved to entertain, and she and her family traveled frequently. She also enjoyed music, especially live concerts, but most of all she loved her family and friends. Survived by: loving husband, Bob Petersen; son, Bryan Petersen; grandson, Kaden Petersen; parents, Ernest and Hilda Kohler; sisters, Trudy Smith & Peggy (Jim) Sigman; brothers, Gary (Julie) Kohler, Terry (Mary) Kohler & Roger (Judy) Kohler; numerous nieces, nephews, aunts and uncles that were loved by Carol. Visitation will be from 4-8PM Tuesday, October 11, 2011 at Our Savior Lutheran Church, 5110 Franklin Pike, Nashville, TN and funeral services will be conducted 11:00 AM Wednesday, October 12, 2011 at the church with visitation one hour prior to the service. Services will also be held 11:00 AM Saturday, October 15, 2011 at Concordia Lutheran Church and burial will follow in Bethania Lutheran Cemetery in Benedict, ND. There will also be a memorial service 11:00 AM Saturday, October 22, 2011 at Lutheran Church of St. Matthew, 1915 Hogeboom Ave., Eau Claire, WI. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Hope Lodge, Rochester, MN, Caringbridge.org, Alive Hospice, Nashville, TN or the charity of your choice.
