C.E. Clifton

March 30, 1927 — August 26, 2015

C.E. Clifton, age 88 of the Peytonsville community, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, August 26, 2015 at his residence. He was born in Pulaski, TN on March 30, 1927, son of the late Claude English and Mattie Mae Mangrum Clifton.

Mr. Clifton joined the United States Army Air Forces and served during WWII in Germany as a truck driver with the 43rd Air Repair Squadron. He worked as a farmer, a mechanic and a long haul truck driver until his retirement from the American Freight trucking... company with a 30 year safe driving record. In 1973 he purchased property in Thompsons Station where he fulfilled his dream of owning his own farm and working the land. Mr. Clifton was a giving man who was always willing to help his friends and neighbors. He was a generous farmer who frequently shared the fruits of his labor with others.

In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his sisters, Doris Stafford and Lillian Holder, brothers, Charlie Clifton, Edward Clifton and Claude Clifton, Jr., and son-in-law, Jimmy Kincaid. Mr. Clifton is survived by his wife of 67 years, Dean Thompson Clifton of Thompsons Station, TN, children, Jean Kincaid of Salisbury, NC, Brenda Gallant of Meridianville, AL, Connie & Keith Cade of Lutz, FL, Corey & Angela Clifton of Thompsons Station, TN, grandchildren, Brooke & John Fanning of Elora, TN, Bethany Gallant of Nashville, TN, Blair & Hugh Glidewell of Locust Grove, GA, Chelsey & Jake Wallace of Dover, TN, Lexi Reed and Blake Clifton both of Thompsons Station, TN, great grandson, Jacob Wallace, sisters, Margie Tatum of Franklin, TN and Gladys Grant of Pulaski, TN, brother, Bill & Sylvia Clifton of Nashville, TN, and numerous nieces, nephews and friends.

Funeral services will be conducted on Saturday, August 29, 2015 at 2:00 p.m. at Williamson Memorial Funeral Home with Pastor John Snow officiating under the direction of Gallant-Riverview Funeral Home. Visitation will be 12:00 noon until 2:00 p.m. on Saturday. Burial will follow in Williamson County Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to The Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson's Research.
