Charles Eades, Sr.

Charles "Chuck" Joseph Eades, age 85 of Franklin, passed away in his home surrounded by his family at 6:33PM October 22, 2014. Mr. Eades was born in Cincinnati, Ohio on July 2, 1929. Graduated from Goshen High School in Goshen, Ohio in 1947. Shortly after graduating, he married his love Doris Lee Grim on September 6, 1947 in Covington, Kentucky. He attended the University of Cincinnati from 1947-1950 and graduated with a Bachelors of Science in Accounting. Continuing his education, he earned management certifications from Wharton School, Harvard University, and Dartmouth University.

He was a Master Sergeant with the U.S. Army, Army Reserve, and National Guard from 1946-1951. He served with the 1560th Airborne Special Unit and the 187th Airborne Regimental Combat Unit known as the Rakkasans. From 1952-1960 he was self-employed as a public accountant, real estate broker, and insurance agent in Milford, Ohio. After that, he was the President and CEO of Emery, Ltd in Cincinnati, Ohio. He became the Vice President of Ingram Industries in Nashville, TN. Later, he became the President and CEO of Tennessee Insurance Company (a subsidiary of Ingram Industries Inc.) and also President and CEO of Bluewater Reinsurance Company of Hamilton, Bermuda (a subsidiary of Ingram Industries Inc.).

In 1951, he became a member of the Masonic Lodge where he served as Treasurer, Secretary, and Trustee with Valley of Cincinnati, and Hiram Masonic Lodge of Franklin, TN. He achieved the Scottish Rite 32nd degree in 1960. He was a member of York Rite Masonic Bodies from 1958-1980 and a member of Tax Executives Institute from 1960-1990. Also he was a member of Goshen High School Alumni Association for many years and inducted into Goshen High School Hall of Fame in 2003. After being a member for many years, he was elected Chairman of the Committee on State Taxation, U.S. Chamber of Commerce in Washington, DC. From 1970-1976 he was a member of the Ohio Republican Executive Committee representing the 6th congressional district. He was County Commissioner for district 12 of Williamson County, TN from 1998-2002.

Preceded in death by his mother, Faye Elvira Arbogast who passed in May 1935, Cincinnati, OH; father, Robert William Eades who passed in January 1940, Cincinnati, OH; as well as two sisters and two brothers. Survived by wife, Doris Lee Eades of Franklin, TN; daughter, Kathy Lynn Eades of Franklin, TN; son, Charles Joseph Eades, Jr. of Franklin, TN; and son, David Douglas Eades of Franklin, TN.
