Charles Edward Hailey, Sr. age 93 of Nashville, TN passed away April 16, 2019. Ed served our country in the US Navy for 3 years aboard the battle cruiser USS Alaska in the North Atlantic and saw combat in the Pacific theater in WWII. He returned from service to enter Vanderbilt where he was a member of Sigma Chi and received his degree in civil engineering. He then started his 35-year career with M.W. Kellogg/Halliburton leading him to a life around the world in Spain, Belgium, Venezuela, Colombia, Aruba and in Australia, where Ed was involved with the America's Cup. He loved golf, sailing, Vanderbilt baseball, football and basketball. He is preceded in death by his parents, Charles Ernest and Mettie Mae Schutt Hailey; twin sister, Edna L Hailey Nordyke/West and brother, George Stratton (Virginia) Hailey. Ed is survived by his loving and devoted wife of 57 years, Ceacy Henderson Hailey; sons, Kyle (Patricia) Hailey and Charles Edward (Pam) Hailey; grandchildren, McKenna and Bayden Hailey; brother, John "Jack" Crockett (Peggy) Hailey and cousin, Nina Margaret Schutt Freeman Hailey. A graveside service with military honors will be held 11:00AM Saturday, April 20, 2019 at Woodlawn Memorial Park. Services in care of Williamson Memorial Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be to a charity of your choice in Ed's memory.
