Charles Hilyer

Charles Wayne Hilyer, 72, of Thompson's Station, TN, formerly of Okeechobee, FL, died May 3, 2015 in McAlpin, FL. He was born to Huffman and Lunie Mae McCullers Hilyer on November 28, 1942 in Wetumpka, AL. He moved to Belle Glade, FL and married Jacqueline Baughman. In 1980, they moved to Okeechobee, FL where they lived for more than 30 years before recently moving to Tennessee. Charles was a lifelong farmer and devoted husband and father. Charles loved and cared deeply about his family. Anyone who knew him knew he had a heart of gold which he wore on his sleeve. He is survived by his wife, Jackie; five children, Carla (Randy) Fitzgerald of Greenville, S.C., Waynette Davis of Prattville, AL, Holly (Trey) Sizemore of Nolensville, TN, Lodge (Shasta) Hilyer of McAlpin, FL, and Brittany (Justin) Miller of Spring Hill, TN. He is also survived by one brother, Lamar (Naomi) Hilyer of Sebring, FL, and two sisters, Elizabeth Collins of Prattville, AL and Brenda Yantis of Ft. Myers, FL. Charles was also blessed with fourteen grandchildren, one great granddaughter, and numerous nieces and nephews. He is predeceased by his parents, Huffman and Lunie McCullers Hilyer; and one brother, Elmer Maylan (Buddy) Hilyer. Services will be held at Williamson Memorial Funeral Home in Franklin, TN on Saturday, May 9, 2015. Visitation will be at 11:00 am and services at 12:00 noon, followed by a graveside service. In lieu of flowers, the family has requested donations to either, Rolling Hills Community Church, 1810 Columbia Ave Suite 100, Franklin, TN 37064 or Pinemount Baptist Church, PO Box 129, McAlpin, FL 32062.
