Clyde Redford, age 69, a lifelong resident of Williamson County, died December 13, 2017, at Vanderbilt Hospital after an eight-month battle with brain cancer. He was surrounded by his loving family: wife of 48 years, Mary Ellen Jones Redford, son, Matthew Thomas Redford, daughter, Margaret Elizabeth Redford, son, William Benjamin Redford and granddaughter, Emily Elizabeth Redford.
Clyde was born in Franklin, TN on October 21,1948, the only son of Elizabeth and Clyde Redford. He graduated from Battle Ground Academy in 1966 and David Lipscomb College in 1970. Clyde began his career while still in college, selling life and health insurance on campus. Clyde worked for Gale, Smith and Company, starting in 1971, where he served as agent, President, and Chairman of the Board until their merger with Arthur J. Gallagher, at which time he was the Area Vice President for Gallagher Benefit Services, Inc.
Clyde enjoyed fishing, hunting, traveling and spending time with his family. He enjoyed serving his community and felt blessed by those he served. Clyde was a member of Harpeth Hills Church of Christ. He served on the Board of Room-in-the-Inn and Inner City Ministry. He was active with Franktown Open Hearts, mentoring many young men.
Visitation will be held from 11 AM to 1 PM Saturday, December 16 at Harpeth Hills Church of Christ with Funeral Service to follow at 1:00 PM. In lieu of flowers, contributions to Inner City Ministry, Room-in-the-Inn or Franktown Open Hearts would honor Clyde.
