Col. James N. Chapman, Sr., PhD (Ret. U.S. Army), age 86 of Franklin, TN went to be with the Lord, October 25, 2016. Retired Colonel with the U.S. Army after 24 years of service. Retired with the University of Tennessee Space Institute in Tullahoma, TN. Member of Oak Valley Church and Franklin Lions Club. Preceded in death by wife, Doris Dodson Chapman; parents, Levi and Mabel Chapman and granddaughter, Amanda Stamper. Survived by: wife, Joy B. Chapman; children, Steve Chapman, Cathy (Joe) Stortz, Donna (Jack) Stevens and James N. "Jimmy" Chapman, Jr.; stepsons, Kenneth (Crystal) Stephenson and Sam (Toni) Stephenson; ten grandchildren and eight great grandchildren and other loving family members. Funeral services will be conducted 10:00 AM Friday, October 28, 2016, at Oak Valley Baptist Church, Jerry Winfield and Ken Parker officiating and visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the church. Grandchildren will serve as pallbearers at the church. Graveside services will be conducted 3:00 PM, October 28, 2016 with full military honors at Rose Hill Memorial Park. Honorary pallbearers will be The Believers and TLC Sunday School Class. Memorials may be made to Oak Valley Baptist Church or Franklin Lions Club.
