On the morning of Saturday, May 10, 2014, Craig Burgess Benson, 69 years of age, of Thompson's Station, TN, succumbed to his battle with Pick's Disease, surrounded by those he loved so dearly.
Craig is survived by his wife Sarah Benson, who he married in 1969, two daughters, Helen Benson of Nashville, TN and Rachael Harnett and her husband Richard Harnett of Colorado Springs, CO and his sister Barbara Whitt and all her loving family of Point Reyes, CA.
Craig was born April 27, 1945 in Memphis, TN. Always a scholar at a young age; he attended Memphis University School for high school. His educational journey continued at Duke University for an Undergraduate Degree in history. Then Craig moved on to Vanderbilt University to earn a Doctorate in law. A young enthusiastic lawyer, Craig back home to become in house counselor for Stax Records. Finding talent and protecting their success for all his artists was a never ending passion that gave Craig drive to give his all at work in the ever changing music industry, and always with an optimist view for its future.
Starting a family, Craig and Sarah moved their lives to Thompson's Station, TN where he continued his career in Entertainment Law, by opening his own practice, specializing in publishing and music contracts. Craig positively touched so many lives thru out his decades in the music industry, while Sarah fought for the environmental friendly growth of Thompson's Station and the surrounding areas of Nashville.
Craig was also committed to rejuvenating his body with swimming, biking and jogging, to enjoy all the beauty that nature had to offer. The second love of Craig's life was the beauty and power of a well maintained European car, whether it was racing, car shows or leisurely drives thru the country, Craig found a special kind of joy behind the wheel. May he drive off into the sunset, in "Sunset" on a beautiful afternoon enjoying the winding roads, the wind in his hair, and the sweet kiss of the sun shining down upon his face.
Private services were held by the family.
