David Alexander Burba, of Pegram, TN., passed away peacefully Saturday, November 25, 2017 at Vanderbilt Hospital at the age of 76. Born January 31, 1941 in Dallas, Texas, to the late Wendell and Audria Burba of Dallas, TX., he was preceded in death by brothers Phillip Burba of St. Louis, MO. and Joe Burba of Chattanooga, TN. He is survived by lifelong friends Frank W Stubblefield of Bellport, Long Island, NY., Kathy S. (Billy) Fox of Cornersville, TN., and other members of the Stubblefield family, all of whom he considered his family. David studied at Southern Methodist University and received his PhD degree in Physics from Vanderbilt University. While he spent most of his career working with the Physics Department at Vanderbilt, he also spent some years teaching at several universities across the southern part of our country always desiring to return "home". While visiting the home of Sam and Frances Stubblefield at their farm on Wilson Pike in September of 1968, David found a place he could call home and was accepted as a member of the family for the rest of his life. Over the years David enjoyed working on the farm and became an avid deer hunter. A graveside service will be held at 11:00am on Friday, December 1, 2017 at Williamson Memorial Gardens.
