David Matteson

David "Byrne" Matteson, age 78 of Franklin, TN went home to be with the Lord on Sunday, November 5, 2017. Byrne was born in Trinidad, CO., on November 24, 1938, son of the late John Theodore (Ted) & Helen O'Byrne Matteson.
He grew up in Walsenburg, CO. and then Palisade, CO., graduating from Palisade High School. He received a Business Degree from Colorado State University. After that, he attended Navy Officer Candidate School and served as an Officer in the Navy. After concluding his full-time Navy service, Byrne returned to Colorado, this time Denver, and began his career in Sales and Sales Management with General Electric Supply Company. He also continued to serve in the Navy Reserve. Several promotions and transfers with G. E. Supply resulted in family moves to California, Arizona, Florida and Tennessee.
Byrne was preceded in death by his brother George and his sister Sandra.
His Survivors include his loving wife of 31 years, Sarah Matteson; sons, John (Christi) Matteson, Mike (Cathy) Matteson & Todd (Dierdri) Matteson; step-daughter, Dana Poulin; sister, Karen; 8 grandchildren, Robert, Alicia (Tan), Richard, Jennifer, Chris, Will, Nicholas & Taylor; & 3 great grandchildren, Makayla, Lily & Charlie.
The family will receive friends from 11:00 am - 1:00 pm on Wednesday, November 8, 2017 at Brentwood Baptist Church where a funeral service will be held at 1:00 pm with Dr. Roger Severino officiating. Memorials may take the form of donations to the Alzheimer's Association in loving memory of David "Byrne" Matteson.
