Doris McCarver

October 24, 1925 — January 25, 2016

Doris McCarver passed peacefully into Heaven the morning of Monday, January 25th as a result of a major stroke eight days prior.
Doris is survived by her eldest daughter, Patricia Cohen, husband, Lawry Cohen of Denton, Texas; her youngest daughter, Micki Goetch Ott, husband, Michael Ott of Franklin, Tennessee; and her two brothers, Jim Sawyer of Holly Lake Ranch, Texas and Bob Sawyer of Irving, Texas. She was preceded in death by her husband of 55 years, Charles McCarver in 1999.
Doris was born on October 24, 1925 in Evant, Texas to Putnam and Fleta Sawyer. She attended John Tarelton University and met Charles while working in Freeport, Texas where they married in 1944. She spent the first 14 years of their marriage as a military wife changing civil service jobs wherever Charles duty took them. After Charles retired from the Air Force, she continued her working career with the General Services Administration (GSA) until she retired with 30 years of service.
Doris will always be remembered as a woman of faith, a devoted wife and mother who always placed the needs of her family above her own.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in her memory to Good Samaritan Village, 2500 Hinkle Drive, Denton, TX 76201.
