Dorothy Hamb

Dorothy Perkins Hamb, October 30, 1914 - September 14, 2011, was a very loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and friend. She was a native of Ohio and a long time resident of West Virginia until 1998 when she moved to Franklin, TN to be near her daughter, Artie Bobo. She was preceded in death by her husband, James P. Hamb, parents, Frank and Mary Perkins, two sisters, Irma Blades and Gladys Donahue, and four brothers, Dwight, Dick, Bill and Lynn Perkins. She is survived by her four children, William E. Hamb (wife Kent), F. Lynn Hamb (wife Joan), Suzie Roberts (husband Harry), Artie Bobo (husband Dick) grandchildren, Robyn Hyde (husband Jim), Lara Hamb-Jett (husband Craig), Christopher Hamb, Kelly Banez, Andrew Roberts,MD, Clayton Page (wife Jenny); step-grandsons, David Hereford, John David Bobo & Brian Richard Bobo; great-grandchildren, Jordan Banez, Aubrey Banez, Lillian Page, Adelyn Page; step great grandson, Miles Cote and many dear nieces and nephews. Everyone who knew Dorothy was drawn to her strength of character, focus on family, culinary talents and amazing memory. She loved her family and friends and made each person feel comfortable and special. Her special friends in Franklin include Mrs. Margaret White who became a kindred spirit, dear friend, and walking buddy, Mrs. June Fowlkes who made sure she was able to attend church and Sunday school by driving her the last several years, a caring and thoughtful friend, Mrs. Nancy Berry and Bandit, her four legged friend. A memorial service will be conducted at 11am on Wednesday, September 21st by Dr. A. Lynn Hill in the historic sanctuary, Franklin First United Methodist Church, 143 5th Avenue South, Franklin, TN 37064. Visitation will be held one hour before the service. Memorial contributions may be made to Franklin First United Methodist Church at the above address. Interment will be at a later date at Highland Memory Gardens in her beloved West Virginia hills.
