Dr. Ray Phillip Carroll, Sr. age 77 of Franklin, Tennessee passed away April 25, 2016. He was a member of St. Philip Catholic Church. Ray received his Doctorate in Administration & Supervision from the University of Louisiana Monroe. He was a trumpet player with Danny Davis & the Nashville Brass when they won seven Emmy Awards and were inducted into the Country Music Hall of Fame. Ray was also Boot Randolph's "Mr. Sax" trumpet player, conductor and arranger. He owned the Jack Daniels Silver Coronet Band and also played in it for several years. Preceded in death by his parents, Floyd & Helen Neas Carroll; sister, Flossie Frances Allen and brother, Gene Lee Carroll. Survived by wife, Ann Barrett Clark Carroll; sons, Ray "Beau" Phillip (Susan) Carroll, Jr. of Mufreesboro, TN, Jeff (Stephanie) Carroll of Franklin, TN and Tim (Sarah) Carroll of Murfreesboro, TN; daughter, Julie Ann (Louis) Zamudio of Murfreesboro, TN and eight grandchildren. Funeral Mass will be 2:00PM Friday, April 29, 2016 with visitation two hours prior at St. Philip Catholic Church, Father Bala Celebrant. Burial will follow in Williamson Memorial Gardens.
