Dr. Cutrer Sr.

January 26, 1928 — July 6, 2015

Dr. Clyde Willis Cutrer, Sr., age 87 of Franklin, TN passed away July 6, 2015. Dr. Cutrer was a long time minister at Madison First Baptist Church and Professor Emeritus in the Religion Department at Belmont University. After retiring from Belmont he self-published four books.
A native of Kentwood, LA, Dr. Cutrer graduated from Louisiana State University with a degree in Speech, earned his Master's at Southern Seminary in Louisville, KY, and his PhD in Philosophy and Religion from Vanderbilt University.
He shared a message of love throughout his life anchored by a simple approach his mother taught him. Always look for the good in other people. He often said life is precious so live each day to it's fullest and often prayed "for the good things in life Lord we are grateful".
Preceded in death by first wife, Dora Temple Cutrer; daughter, Denise Cutrer Sandlin; brother, J.H. Cutrer.
Survived by his loving wife of 21 years, Helen DeLeon Cutrer; son, Clyde (Jackie) Cutrer Jr.; step children, Jon (Jeannie) DeLeon and Melinda DeLeon Mills; siblings, Carl Cutrer and Margaret Kitchens; seven grandchildren and four great grandchildren.
Services will be conducted 11:00AM Thursday, July 9, 2015 at Williamson Memorial Funeral Home, Mark Satterfield officiating. Visitation will be held 4-8PM Wednesday and one hour prior to service. Private burial in Forest Lawn Memorial Gardens. Memorial contributions may be made to Belmont University. WILLIAMSON MEMORIAL FUNERAL HOME
