WILLIAMS, Dr. G. Kenneth (Ken): July 8, 1932-July 11, 2013. Born in Detroit, MI by parents, Vale and Willette Williams. He grew up in Lebanon, TN and attended Lebanon High School and Castle Heights Military Academy. He went on to attend the University of Kentucky where he received his BS and MS in Mathematics. He played football for Kentucky under head coach Paul "Bear" Bryant. He received his doctorate from the University of Virgina. He taught briefly at Notre Dame before accepting a position in the Math Department at Southwestern (now Rhodes College) in Memphis, TN. He taught at Rhodes from 1968 until 1995. He chaired the Math department many years and received the Clarence Day Award for Outstanding Teaching in 1992. He was a member of Evergreen Presbyterian Church where he served as an elder and deacon. He leaves his wife of 59 years, Barbara T. Williams. He also leaves his four children and spouses: Daughters, Dr. Kenna J Williams of Cookeville, TN, Barbara L. Williams of Franklin, TN, Terri A Williams, PhD, (Kent) of Hartford, CT and a son Scott D. Williams (Sharon) of Franklin, TN. He leaves his seven grandchildren who all lovingly referred to him as, "PaPa." He is also survived by his older sister, Cornelia W. Matthews of Muskogee, OK. His older brother, Junior, died while serving his country in World War II. The family requests that any donations be made to Rhodes College: "Ken Williams Memorium". Services will be held 3:00PM Saturday, July 20, 2013 and visitation from 1-3:00PM prior to the services at WILLIAMSON MEMORIAL FUNERAL HOME, 3009 Columbia Ave. Franklin, TN. 37064. 615-794-2289 www.williamsonmemorial.com
