Dr. James Taylor, Jr.

April 12, 1947 — January 19, 2022

Dr. James R. Taylor, Jr. was born on April 12, 1947, in Greenwood, Mississippi to Violet Fox Taylor and James Robert Taylor, Sr. He graduated from Mississippi State. University and the University of Louisville dental school. He was married for 49 ½ years to Beverly Lampton Taylor. After dental school they made their home in Cleveland, Mississippi where they raised their children, Missy and Jim. James was very involved in his church as a deacon and Sunday school teacher. He served in several positions with the Mississippi Dental Association. Dr. T, as he became known, loved being a dentist. He spent many hours attending courses to perfect his dental knowledge. As the children grew, he was very involved in their education. James served as chairman of Presbyterian Day School, where Missy and Jim attended.

In his leisure time, Dr. T., enjoyed hunting and fishing. He also enjoyed traveling in the U.S. and abroad. He loved fishing in different waters…Australia, New Zealand, Aruba, Grand Cayman, Turks & Caicos, and many other places. In October 2018, James retired to Franklin, Tennessee where he enjoyed spending time with his wife, children, and grandchildren.

Dr. Taylor is survived by his wife, Beverly, children, Dr. Melissa Taylor Burton, James Robert Taylor, III, son-in-law, Courtland Burton, and grandchildren, Wyatt and Kathryn (Khaki) Burton.

He will truly be missed by all who knew and loved him. He passed into his heavenly Father’s arms on January 19, 2022. May our husband, daddy, and Pops rest in peace.
