PENNINGTON, Mr. Dwight L., age 65 of Franklin, TN, January 28, 2014. Preceded in death by parents, Isaac A. & Margaret Wright Pennington, Omar Austin Anglin; step-brother, Eddie Anglin. Survived by loving wife, Theresa Pennington; dedicated sons, Austin Barlow Pennington & Trevor Wright (Haverly) Pennington; step-daughter, Dr. Lyndi Hewitt (Matt) Corzine & Laura (Billy) Curran; grandchildren, Ellie, Layla & Liam. Dwight was a State Licensed Contractor in construction of homes and commercial buildings. He became Chief Engineer/Maintenance Supervisor in 2004 for Correction Corporation of America. A graduate of Franklin High School where he played football and participated in the Track & Field program and then attended the University of Tennessee and was an avid Big Orange Fan. A member of the Historic Franklin Presbyterian Church. Dwight was a life-time member of Hiram Masonic Lodge #7, York Rite Mason, 32 Degree Scottish Rite Mason and Al Menah Shriner. Dwight was an active member in the Williamson County Shrine Club. An advocate of the Boy Scouts of America, where he was an Eagle Scout with honors. While in the Boy Scouts of America, Dwight became a student of the Civil War traveling to the historic battlefields, reading historical literature and was an authority on the Battle of Franklin and Army of Tennessee. He enjoyed outdoor activities including equine sports, professional rodeos and the Iroquois Steeple Chase. Dwight's family extends a heart-felt gratitude to long-time friend, Dr. Karl Vandevender and his staff. They also extend their appreciation to Alive Hospice and Urology Associates. In lieu of flowers the family request donations be made to Vanderbilt Children's Hospital or the Shriner's Hospital for Children. Funeral services will be conducted 11:00AM Tuesday, February 4, 2014 at Historic Franklin Presbyterian Church, Rev. Sally Hughes officiating. Interment, Mt. Hope Cemetery. Active pallbearers: Billy Pewitt, Donald Cowan, Jr, Dwight Heithcock, John Greer III, Loy Hardcastle & Wayne Potts. Honorary pallbearers: Dr. Karl Vandevender, Donald Cowan, Sr., Mark Hartzog, Ronald & Marty Ligon, Sissy Anderton, Robin Anderton, Peter Anderton, Johnny & Barbara Sausedo, Mike Dunning, Royce Couch, Ted Hood, Jimmy King, Frank Akin, Steve Issacs & Mike Kennedy. Visitation 3-7PM Monday at Williamson Memorial and one hour prior to the service Tuesday at the church.
