EDWARD FLETCHER MCCREARY, known to most as Mac McCreary, passed away on August 17, 2023.
He was born in 1947 in Dickson, TN to Helen Hutton McCreary and Benjamin Fletcher McCreary, Jr. He graduated from Dickson High School in 1965 and received his Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration from University of Tennessee in Knoxville.
Mac never knew a stranger and loved having conversations with people. His fondest memories were of his travels, whether that be Scouting High Adventures or duck hunting with his son, his relaxing vacations with his wife, or most recently, his trip to Disney World with his grandsons. He loved college football, University of Tennessee and Virginia Tech, and loved the Tennessee Titans. No fair weather fan here, he has been a Titans fan through thick and thin and was proud to be in attendance at the Music City Miracle game. Above all else, Mac loved his family.
He is preceded in death by his parents and his sister, Mary Jane McCreary. Mac is survived by his loving wife of 16 years, Melinda Lynn McCreary; beloved son, Ben McCreary and his wife Amanda; Melinda’s children: Joel Platt, Andy Platt with wife Melissa, and Daniel Platt with wife Camille; cherished grandchildren, Levi and Asher McCreary, Sydney, Taylor, Josiah, Andrew and Aaron Platt. A celebration of life will be held on September 7th at Rolling Hills Community Church’s Franklin Campus. Visitation at 3:30 and service starting at 4:30. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in his memory to RHCC Student Ministry at 1810 Columbia Avenue, Suite 100, Franklin TN 37064.
