Elbert "Jim" Thompson, age 88, Spring Hill, TN, passed away April 28, 2011 at his home surrounded by his family. He was born in Marks, MS on November 1, 1922. Jim grew up and went to school in Indianola, MS before joining the Armed Forces. He served during WWII in England in the Engineers. Her retired from Farmers Tractor and Implement Company after 42 years of service. Jim was a long time member of Northside/Gamari Road Baptist Church where he served as deacon and held several positions in the church. After moving to Spring Hill, TN in January of 2004, he became a charter member of Community Baptist Church. Jim was preceded in death by his parents, M.L. and Nannie Mae Thompson; sister, Mildred Smith; and brothers, Fred Thompson and Clyde Thompson. Jim is survived by his wife of 66 years, Maurine Thompson; daughters, Cheryl (Lee) Kelly, Gigi (Kenny) Warren and Terri (Bruce) Snider; grandchildren, Traci (Greg) Guidry, Mandi (Shan) Azar, Shea (Mike) Love, Todd (Yvonne) Murrah, Lindsey (Bucky) McKinnon, Taylor Dendy, Randi (Steven) Toten; twelve great grandchildren; and one great great grandson due to arrive in June. Funeral services will be conducted 2PM Monday, May 2, 2011 at Spring Hill Memorial Funeral Home, Bro. Ray Gilder and Bro. Mike Stallnaker officiating. Family and friends will serve as pallbearers. Visitation will be 3-5PM Sunday and two hours prior to the service on Monday at the funeral home. Interment 11AM Tuesday, May 3, 2011 at Middle Tennessee Veterans Cemetery.
