Ernest Wilson "Ernie" Williams, age 69 of Franklin, TN passed away November 30, 2016. Born in Wilson County, November 29, 1947. Ernie grew up on the family farm in the community of Norene. He graduated from Ketron High School in Kingsport, TN and served in the U.S. Marine Corps from 1965-1969. During his service, he was assigned to the Presidential Color Guard at Marine Corps Barracks 8th & I and later deployed to Vietnam. He attained the rank of Sergeant. Following service, Ernie attained degrees from the University of Tennessee and the Nashville School of Law. He married Nancy Jane Ballinger in 1979, and established his law practice and home in Franklin, TN. He served as United States Attorney of Middle Tennessee from 1991-1993 appointed by President George H.W. Bush. A county commissioner for the 9th District of Williamson County from 2002-2013, and as Williamson County General Sessions Court Judge from 2013-2014. For 33 years, Ernie Williams has been active in the local community, known to many as coach, friend, mentor, and leader. He was a dedicated husband and father, who was proud of his family. Preceded in death by his parents, Thomas & Annie Mae Williams and his wife, Nancy Williams. Survived by sons, Andy (Shannon) Stafford of Fairview, TN and Matt (Heather) Williams of Franklin, TN; daughter, Vicki Victory of Nolensville, TN; sisters, Tomi Beverly of Knoxville, TN and Sherri Holmes of Lebanon, TN; grandchildren, Rebecca Cotton, Natalie Victory, Ford Wilson Williams, Allison Jane Stafford and Christopher A. Stafford, Jr. Visitation will be 4-8PM Saturday, December 3, 2016 at Williamson Memorial Funeral Home. Funeral service will be 2:00PM Sunday, December 4, 2016 with visitation one hour prior at Bethlehem United Methodist Church, Ryan Bennett officiating.
