Evelyn Vaden

October 14, 1920 — December 9, 2010

VADEN, Evelyn (Mrs. Leonard Vaden) departed this life to be with our Lord on December 9, 2010. Those who knew and loved her know that it is an understatement to say that her passion in life was Christian servanthood. Her days were full with giving to her family and to her wide circle of friends during her ninety years on this earth. Her husband, Leonard, predeceased her in 1986. Evelyn is survived by her children: Sara (Dudley) Davis, Paul (Nelia), Mike (Pam) and Jimmy (Beverly); her grandchildren: Meg Vaden Cheng, Molly Vaden Callicott, Katie Vaden, Ned Vaden, Jim Vaden, Ruth Davis Price, Alice Davis King, Wilson Davis; and 7 great grandchildren. During her life, she championed many worthwhile and meaningful causes that have favorably impacted and continue to impact our society. One of her abiding life loves was her church, Epworth United Methodist. She has nurtured, supported and cherished this community of faith in Williamson County since 1945 when she and Leonard moved back to his home in Tennessee. One of the longstanding traditions in the Vaden household has been "Sunday dinner" at Gramma's and Papa's while Leonard was alive and it has continued since his death. She and her family have been richly blessed by these family times around her huge table. Everything, even politics, was discussed by all who were able to gather each Sunday. Evelyn, ever the matriarch, always expressed her opinion. The family will receive loved friends from 4-8pm on Saturday, December 11, 2010 at Epworth United Methodist Church, 4340 Arno Road. A service that will celebrate Evelyn's life will be held at Epworth at 2pm, Sunday, December 12, 2010. The family requests that, instead of flowers, memorials be sent to the building fund at Epworth United Methodist Church, 4340 Arno Road, Franklin, TN 37064.
