Fleming O. Williams, Jr., age 89 passed away November 21, 2016. Longtime resident of Williamson County, TN prior to moving to Lyles, TN. Graduated from Battle Ground Academy and attended the University of Tennessee. Served in the U.S. Navy during WWII. Served for twenty years with the Williamson County Sheriff's Department as Sheriff. Member of Franklin Noon Rotary Club and Tennessee Sheriff's Association. After retirement, he started a woodworking business and wrote his life's story "A Tennessee Sheriff: Williamson County Cases 1970 to 1990". Preceded in death by son, Robert Thomas "Tom" Williams; parents, Fleming O. Williams Sr. and Inez Williams; sisters, Martha, Charlene and Patricia. Survived by wife of 66 years, Ophelia Jordan Williams; sons, Fleming "Sam" (Debby) Williams III and Jack Jordan Williams; daughters, Joyce Williams and Sarah (Jeff) Sistrunk; grandchildren, Jason Williams and Gracie Bowman; great grandchildren, Jordan Rice and Eliza Bowman. Graveside services will be conducted 1:00 PM Saturday, November 26, 2016 at Mt. Hope Cemetery, Rev. Sally Hughes officiating. Active and Honorary pallbearers will be current and retired Williamson County Sheriff ‘s Department and Staff. Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society or charity of your choice.
