Francis Perry

Francis Marion "F. M." Perry passed from this life into his new life with the Lord on Friday, May 16, 2014.
F. M. was born on May 18, 1921 and grew up on Shades Mountain, near Birmingham, Alabama. After two years at David Lipscomb College, he went to work as a civilian clerk for the army and was stationed in Glenallen, Alaska. Toward the end of WWII, F. M. was drafted and went into the Navy, serving on a landing ship medium in the Pacific. He was engaged to be married to Charlotte Wiesen who was from Chicago, Illinois. After the war ended he returned to the states where he and Charlotte were married and relocated in Colorado where F. M. earned a degree in engineering at the University of Colorado.
He went to work for General Electric in Syracuse, New York where their two sons, Joseph and Charles were born. When they moved to Schenectady a third son, Robert Francis, was born and lived only a week. Five years later, while living in Utica they adopted a daughter, Sandra. F. M. then began a career with the State Department, which took the family to Pakistan and then Thailand. Upon returning to the states F. M. worked in Washington, D. C., while living in suburban Northern Virginia.
It wasn't long after his retirement they heard about World Christian Broadcasting, headed up at that time by his old friend Bob Scott. The plans were to build a radio station in Anchor Point, Alaska, which would broadcast music and Bible centered studies into Russia, China and the Pacific Rim. He signed on as engineer, designing and helping to build KNLS radio station.
He later relocated to Franklin, Tennessee when production facilities were built in the Cool Springs area.
F. M. was a faithful servant of the Lord his entire life. He was a long time member of Berry's Chapel Church of Christ. Charlotte Wiesen Perry, devoted wife and mother passed away on May 23, 2007.
F. M. is survived by his sons, Joseph William Perry (Ruth) of Flowery Branch, Georgia and Charles Richard Perry (Mary) of Anchor Point, Alaska, and a daughter, Sandra Harvey of Nashville, Tennessee.
F. M. loved his grandchildren Tara, Kyle, Ryan and Stephanie Harvey and his many beloved nieces and nephews, including great and great-great nieces and nephews.
He was preceded by his father and mother Joe Bert and Jenny Morris Perry, his brothers Richard Howell Perry and Bert Perry, and his sisters Isabella Seeley and Betty Jo Corcoran.
Services will be conducted 2:00PM Tuesday, May 20, 2014 at Williamson Memorial Funeral Home with visitation one hour prior to the service, Andy Baker and Charles Caudill officiating. Burial Williamson Memorial Gardens. Active pallbearers will be Ryan Harvey, Kyle Harvey, Mike Hayes, Ed Short, Edward Ho & Channing Workman. Honorary pallbearers will be Members of World Christian Broadcasting and Elders of Berry's Chapel. Memorial contributions may be made to World Christian Broadcasting 605 Bradley Ct.
