Longtime local truck dealer Paul Lankford, age 83 lost his courageous 13 year battle with cancer on Thursday, March 10, 2016. He passed away peacefully at his home with family and friends.
Mr. Lankford was a lifelong resident of Williamson Co. born in the Forest Home Community in 1932 and moved to Franklin at an early age where he and his family engaged in farming.
Mr. Lankford served in the U.S. Army prior to entering the automobile business. He owned and operated Lankford Motors on Columbia Ave. and Downs Blvd. for 42 years, where he touched many lives over generations. He had previously been partner in new and used car dealerships.
Mr. Lankford was preceded by his parents, Henry Lankford and Cevil Welch Lankford. His brothers James and Carmack Lankford and his sister Christine Ladd, Niece Dianne Lankford Cotton.
He is survived by niece Patricia (Billy) McGee, Vickie (John) Geny and Brenda Ladd Molasy, Nephews Jim (Kathryn) Ladd, Bobby (Elizabeth) Lankford and Terry Lankford, and a devoted loving friend Evelyne Lunn.
The family is eternally grateful to friends and neighbors for the visits, cards, errands run and food brought in. All of those things meant so much to him and allowed him to have a feeling of security.
The family also wishes to thank Gentiva Hospice caregivers, nurses, doctors, and social workers for their loving care and attention, as well as Dr. Patrick Murphy of Tennessee Oncology, Dr. Matthew Rupert, Dr. Robert Sewell, and Dr. Edmund Reed, along with their capable staffs.
A special thanks to his dedicated caregivers Debbie from Preferred Care at Home for her compassion and personal kindness and ongoing support for the last 16 months. The personal help from Debbie and her family made him feel safe and comfortable in his final months.
Services will be held at Williamson Memorial Funeral Home 1:00PM Sunday, March 13, 2016 with Jim Taylor officiating. Visitation will be Saturday, March 12, 2016 from 5-8pm and also one hour prior to the service on Sunday. Interment in Williamson Memorial Gardens. Flowers would be welcomed or a donations to the Churches of Christ Disaster Relief Efforts 410 Allen Dr. Nashville TN 37211 or the Charity of Your choice.
