George Charles Newcomer Jr., age 93, passed away peacefully on February 9, 2025. Born on November 25, 1931, in Decatur, Georgia, to the late Juanita Fossick and George Charles Newcomer Sr. Charlie lived a life marked by devotion—to his country, his family, and the many passions that brought him joy.
A proud Veteran of the United States Army, Charlie served his country with honor, carrying the values of loyalty, dedication, and integrity throughout his life. After his military service, he continued to embody these qualities in everything he did.
For 68 wonderful years, Charlie was the loving husband of Elizabeth Carolyn Newcomer, with whom he built a life filled with love, laughter, and cherished memories. Together, they raised a family that was the center of his world. Charlie was a devoted father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, always treasuring time spent with his loved ones. His family was his greatest pride and joy.
Charlie had a deep love for the outdoors. He was an avid golfer, enjoyed birding along the coast, and had a passion for travel, exploring new places with a sense of wonder and appreciation for the beauty of the world. His warm spirit, quick wit, and generous heart touched all who knew him.
Those left to cherish Charlie’s memory are his wife, Carolyn Newcomer; daughters, Nancy Boring (Richard), and Susan Wade (John); grandchildren, Chad Boring (Kelly), Clay Anderson-Boring (Lauren), Alex Wade, Michael Wade (Olivia Steaban), and Elizabeth Wade; and four great grandchildren.
A service to celebrate Charlie’s life will be held at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to K9s for Warriors or a Veteran charity of your choice.
