Wishart, Mr. George C., age 92 of Franklin, TN, March 7, 2014. Son of the late George and Margaret Wishart. Grew up in Carmel, CA and was very proud of his life in Carmel. He attended the Colorado School of Mines and the University of CA at Berkley, CA. He received a BS Degree in Petroleum Engineering in 1947. Member of Beta Theta Phi and Theta Tau fraternities while in college. He served his country during World War II, in the Army Air Corps, having graduated from the Army Air Corps Training School as a Weather Officer. He served at various bases in the USA, but mainly in Corsica and Italy as Weather Officer in charge of a mobile weather station. He was released from service in 1945 as a 1st Lt. After college and military service, he went to work in the oil industry, working for Honolulu Oil Corporation, Tidewater Oil Company and Getty Oil Company. He held many engineering and management positions, working in San Francisco, Los Angeles, and overseas. He spent seven years in Mina Saudi, Kuwait with Getty Oil Company in various management positions. He retired in 1984. George and wife, Barbara moved from California to Nashville in 2003. They lived at the St Paul Independent Community Living Retirement Home. Barbara passed away in 2007. He remarried to Vanderbilt Home Care Service employee, Joyce M. Ring, also of Nashville. In 2008 George and Joyce moved to Franklin, TN. They attended the Concord Road Church of Christ. Survived by; wife, Joyce Wishart; children, Marsha (Dave) Olender, Robert (Deborah) Wishart & Pam (Scott) Harmon; several grandchildren and two great grandchildren; sister, Margaret M. Wishart; brother in law, Ronald (Donna) Rico. Funeral services will be conducted 11:00 AM Monday, March 10, 2014 at Williamson Memorial Funeral Home, Ernest Tubb Jr. & Greg Bearden officiating. Interment Williamson Memorial Gardens. Active pallbearers will be Casey Douglas Harmon, Scott Cameron Harmon, David James Lane, David Stephens, Chris Stephens, Sgt. Robert M. Wishart, Spencer Wishart & Ernest Tubb, Jr. Honorary pallbearers will be Covington Johnston, William Scott Harmon, Lewis Mosley, Armour Thomas, Leonard L. McNeely, William Puckett, Gary Patel, Rebecca Roe & Aline Bearden. Memorials may be made American Cancer Society.
