Franklin, Tn.

Glendra Lavonne Chapman Thompson, age 67, passed away peacefully in her sleep at home on February 2, 2025, in Franklin, TN. She was born March 12,1957, in Nashville, TN. She grew up in Franklin and graduated from Franklin High School in 1975. Glendra attended Nashville State Community College.

Glendra spent much of her childhood at Radnor Lake, where her grandmother, "Mrs. Mac" or "Nanny," was the caretaker. She often said that growing up at Radnor Lake made for a wonderful childhood. During high school, she was a member of the Franklin Girls’ Cotillion and played basketball for the Lady Rebels.

On August 19, 1978, Glendra married David Thompson, and together they were blessed with three children, their spouses, and ten grandchildren. She drove a school bus for Williamson County Schools for 32 years, retiring in 2022. She was a beloved bus driver for Walnut Grove Elementary and Franklin High School. Glendra loved watching movies, working in her garden, and spending time with her grandchildren at the pool. Her greatest joy was watching her children and grandchildren play sports and gathering for family dinners on Sunday afternoons.

A member of Grassland Heights Baptist Church since 1972, Glendra worked with the youth and served as a Sunday School teacher. She was a loving wife, a devoted mother, a proud GiGi and a loyal friend. Glendra will be remembered for her faithfulness to the Lord and deep love for her family and friends.

Glendra was preceded in death by her husband David Thompson, dad, Bill Martin Chapman; her sister, Carlon Dalana Capley and her grandparents, Robert and Bertie Chapman and Jessie “Mac” and Carrie “Mrs. Mac” McElyea of Nashville, TN .
