Mr. Henry Martin Cathey, age 93, of the Rally Hill Community passed away on January 5, 2015. Member of the Ash Hill Cumberland Prebyterian Church since August 1942 where he became an Elder on December 18, 1960. He retired from Union Carbide Corporation in Columbia after 27 years. On November 8, 1942 he was drafted into the Army and served until September 5, 1945. Henry was PFC 448 AntiAircraft Battalion during World War II. Survived by wife of 67 years, Lorene Smithson Cathey of Rally Hill Community; sons, Danny (Jean) Cathey of Spring Hill, Randy (Shirley) Cathey of Spring Hill, & Andy (Staci) Cathey of Columbia; daughters, Dianne (Stevie) Scroggins of Lyles & Terri Smithson of Nashville; sisters, Mattie Sue Hazelwood of Flat Creek Community, Janet Buchanan of Lyles, & Lou Emma Skipper of Cary, NC; eleven grandchildren, eighteen great grandchildren, and two great-great-grandchildren. Services will be held 1:00PM Thursday, January 8, 2015 at Williamson Memorial Funeral Home, Bro. James Miller officiating. Pallbearers include Jeff Cathey, Randy Cathey, Jr., Andy E. Cathey, Chris Cathey, Anthony Cathey, Tyler Scroggins, and Justin Cathey. Honorary pallbearers include all grandchildren, great grandchildren, & great-great-grandchildren. Burial at Williamson Memorial Gardens. Visitation 3-8PM Wednesday. A Masonic Service will be held at 7PM Wednesday. Memorials may be made to Ash Hill Cumberland Presbyterian Church.
