Herbert Travis McCall, M.D., aged 85, passed away on October 22nd in Franklin, Tennessee. He was the beloved husband of Mary (Nella) Loftis McCall for almost 60 years. He was born to Herbert and Mildred McCall, and raised on the family farm in the Bethesda community. He was educated at B.G.A. (class of 1949), Vanderbilt (BA, 1955), and U.T. Medical Unit (M.D., 1959). Travis was also a U.S. Army veteran. He was a lifelong Methodist.
Travis was a loving husband, father, grandfather, friend, and physician. He practiced as an OB/GYN in the Madison area for 25 years, and delivered about 7,000 babies. He will be sorely missed by all who knew and loved him.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by daughters: Susan McCall (Steve) Fisher, and Alice McCall Irvin, grandchildren: Travis (Jessica) Fisher, Holly (Adam) Robinson, Grayson (Laura) Irvin, and Alexandra Irvin, and three (soon to be four) great grandchildren.
He was predeceased by his brother, Colonel Gerald T. McCall, U.S. Army, Ret.
Visitation will be on Monday, October 26, 2015 from 12 to 2 pm, at Christ United Methodist Church, 508 Franklin Rd., Franklin, TN 37069, followed by a Celebration of Life, also at the church, at 2 pm. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Christ United Methodist Church, specified for the Gentry Foundation, or Miriam's Promise.
