Hershel Johnson

June 21, 1931 — January 29, 2021

Hershel "Preacher" Eugene Johnson, age 89 of Columbia, TN passed away January 29, 2021. He was born in Columbia, TN to the late James & Exie Johnson. Hershel was a veteran of the U.S. Army serving during the Korean Conflict. He was a master carpenter, building homes across the middle Tennessee area. Hershel was a member of Mt. Lebanon Cumberland Presbyterian Church. He is preceded in death by his wife, Maebelle Johnson; son, Lee Johnson; brother, William A. Johnson; sisters, Mildred (Eddie) Mayhew and Esther (Skinner) Murphy. Hershel is survived by his sons, Dean (Pam) Johnson of Columbia, TN and Lewis Johnson of Columbia, TN; daughter, Lavana (Rex) Deal of the Leipers Fork Community; brother, Morris (Mary) Johnson of Columbia, TN; grandchildren, Darla (Brian) Bartee, Zach Deal, Justin Deal and William Johnson; great-grandchildren, Kaylee, Abby, Maddie, Izzy and Nathan Bartee; sister in-law, Helen Johnson of Nashville, TN; several step-children, step-grandchildren, step-great grandchildren and many nieces & nephews. Funeral service will be held 11:00AM Monday, February 1, 2021 at Spring Hill Memorial Funeral Home. Bill Rolman will officiate. Burial will follow in Hardison Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Lewis Johnson, Dean Johnson, Zach Deal, Justin Deal, William Johnson, Brian Bartee, Bruce Mangrum, Will Rogers and Justin Peck. Memorials may be made to Mt. Lebanon Cumberland Presbyterian Church or to Maury County Habitat for Humanity. Visitation will be 5-7PM Sunday and one hour prior to the service at SPRING HILL MEORIAL FUNERAL HOME, 931-486-0059. www.springhill-memorial.com
