Imogene Durrenberger

September 29, 1930 — April 18, 2016

Imogene "Jean" McClain Durrenberger, age 85 of Brentwood, TN passed away Monday, April 18, 2016. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother who will be greatly missed. She was born in Mt. Pleasant, TN to the late Oscar McClain and Lillian Brown McClain. She was a resident of Brentwood, TN and a member of Brentwood United Methodist Church for over 40 years, volunteering her services in the church offices for several years. Imogene graduated from Hay Long High School in Mt. Pleasant, TN in 1950 and enjoyed many activities while there including playing the snare drum in the marching band and traveling via train to New Orleans and Washington DC on class trips. She also graduated from Columbia Business College and the Nashville School of Modeling before embarking on her career as an IBM keypunch operator and switchboard operator at TEMCO (Tennessee Enamel Manufacturing Company) in Nashville. It was there she met John, the love of her life. Imogene was married for over 60 years to the late John McElroy Durrenberger. She is survived by her daughters Sherry Gail (Dr. Steven) Swann of Greenbrier, TN and Pamela Jane (John) Huetter of Nashville, TN. She was known as "Gran" to her grandchildren: MAJ Nathaniel (Katrina) Swann of Ft. Leavenworth, KS, CPT Jacob Swann, MD of El Paso, TX, Katherine (Christopher) Gunlefinger-Swann of Martin, TN, Nicholas and Daniel Huetter of Nashville, TN and her great-granddaughter Elizabeth "Lizzy" Swann of Ft. Leavenworth, KS. Imogene is also survived by her sister Martha McClain Bremer of Worthington, MN, her brother Paul (Kay) McClain of Mt. Pleasant, TN and her sister-in-law Mary Durrenberger Strode of Bowling Green, KY. Graveside services will be conducted 12:00 Noon Friday, April 22, 2016 at Williamson Memorial Gardens, Pastor Stephen Kelley officiating. Pallbearers will be Nicholas Huetter, Jacob Swann, Dennis Rountree, Timothy Rountree, Katherine Gunlefinger-Swann, and Christopher Swann-Gunlefinger. Memorials may be made to the Michael J Fox Foundation for Parkinson's Research or to the Glaucoma Research Foundation. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the graveside services at WILLIAMSON MEMORIAL FUNERAL HOME, 3009 Columbia Ave. Franklin TN 37064. 615-794-2289
