James Burns

James William Burns, age 88 of Franklin, TN passed away December 24, 2018. Born in Williamson County, TN. Veteran of the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict. He was a retired Manager with The Kroger Company with 44 years of service. He served and stayed in Williamson County his entire Kroger career. He was awarded Father of the Year for Williamson County in 1966. Mr. Burns was very active in community events including Civitan, Crime Stoppers, J.L. Clay Senior Citizens and the Williamson County Chamber of Commerce. He was recognized as a genuine caring man with a serving heart. Preceded in death by wife of 56 years, Christine Johnson Burns; parents, James Roy and Ava Anna Brandon Burns; brothers, Milton and Melvin Burns; sisters Lois and Edna Burns. Survived by: son, James L. "Jim" (Renee) Burns of Murfreesboro, TN; daughters, Pattie (Steve) Dunning of Franklin, TN and Vickie (Jeff) Pittenger of Franklin, TN; sister, Sybil Hickman of Franklin, TN; grandchildren, Jessica (Brandon) Snell, Amy (Pat Pollifrone) Burns, William Pittenger, Lindsey (Jason) Wiley, Ryan (Whitney Giles) Dunning and Neal (Lyndi) Dunning; several great grandchildren. Funeral services will be conducted 11:00 AM Friday, December 28, 2018 at Williamson Memorial Funeral Home, Raymond Johnson and Gary Fewell officiating. Interment Williamson Memorial Gardens. Active pallbearers will be Steve Dunning, Jeff Pittenger, William Pittenger, Ryan Dunning, Neal Dunning, Jason Wiley, Pat Pollifrone and Brandon Snell. Honorary pallbearers will be Donald Burns, Jerry Burns, Randy Andrews, Cary Reynolds, Dorris Heithcock, Dr. Ben Rowan, Dr. Walter Clair, Kroger Fellow Employees and Employees of Cool Springs McAllister's Deli.
