James Harsha

October 5, 1957 — September 2, 2020

James Timothy "Tim" Harsha, age 62 of Franklin, Tennessee passed away peacefully after a long illness on September 2, 2020. He is preceded in death by his father, James Harsha; brother, Tom Harsha; and father in-law, Raymond Butler. Survived by his wife of 31 years, Diane Butler Harsha of Franklin, TN; daughter, Melanie Rae Harsha and her partner James Chadwick Ransford of Nashville, TN; mother, Diane Harsha of East Lansing, MI; sister, Rebecca McKee of East Lansing, MI; mother in-law, Pauline Butler of Franklin, TN; sister in-law, Lynne Harsha of Yardley, PA; niece, Ellen Harsha; nephews, Kevin & Kyle McKee; numerous cousins, and extended family; granddog, Radley.

Tim was born in Akron, Ohio and, in his childhood, moved with his family to the greater Detroit, Michigan area. He was a 1976 graduate of Farmington Hills Harrison High School where he excelled at football and earned the honor of Eagle Scout. Tim then went on to earn his Bachelor's Degree at Michigan Tech University in the Upper Peninsula. Diane and Tim met at The Quaff in Kansas City, Missouri and were married in 1989. They eventually settled in Franklin, TN. where they raised their daughter.

Tim was a die-hard Detroit Red Wings fan and a Nashville Predators Day One season ticket holder. Tim and his beloved daughter Melanie enjoyed countless evenings at Bridgestone Arena cheering on the Preds (except when they played the Wings.) Diane and Tim enjoyed travel and music and were fortunate enough to often combine the two into one big adventure. Tim inherited a love of golf from his father, Jimmy, who never quite got over the fact that his son scored two holes-in-one. This passion for golf was shared with Tim's brother, nephews, his many Farmington friends, and his golfing buddies in Tennessee.

Diane and Melanie would like to thank all their friends and relatives including the following people for their kindness and support: Polly Butler, Amanda Cecconi, Cade Fleming, Carly Schroer, Bob Chesky, Cheryl Palmer, James Ransford, Anne Troccoli, our loving neighbors on 4th Ave, particularly Jamie, Mike, and Aaron Desmond; Chip, Jen, and Carter Nietfeld.

Celebration of Life service will be held at 2:00PM Saturday, September 12, 2020 at Williamson Memorial Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Nashville Predators Foundation or the American Red Cross.
