James Harold Owens

 It is with heartfelt sadness that the family of James Harold Owens, also known as Jimmy, Boo Boo, and Pawpaw, passed away at the age of 88 at his home on January 14, 2025. January 1, 1937 he was born in Franklin, Tennessee, where he lived all his life.   He is survived by the love of his life Mattie Sue Bennett Owens. They were sweethearts for 69 years and married for 64 years. Sons Samuel "Sam" Harrison Owens, and George Anthony "Tony" Bruce, Jr. Daughter Rita Sue Owens Oakley (Wes); Grandchildren Daniel Ewin Owens (Paige), James Clifton "Cliff" Oakley (Katie), Douglas "Doug" Allen Oakley (Kendall), and Brooke Azilee Bowen Hofferber (Nik). Great grandchildren James Wyatt Owens, Amelia Harper Owens, William Grady Owens, Denver Jakob Hofferber, Ellie Harper Hofferber. As well as many nieces and nephew's. 

He was preceded in death by his father Samuel Mart Owens, Jennie Mai Martin Fitzgerald Owens. Also his siblings Douglas Fitzgerald; Thomas, William, and Walter Owens; Shelby Jean Owens Beard, and Sarah Owens Mitchell Waggoner.   James was a veteran of the United States Army, and made a career as a plumber. He was a member of the Cross Keys Baptist Church. James enjoyed woodworking, fishing, camping, traveling with his family, watching old western re-runs, and he was always up for a good game of Pedro. He always had a playful sense of humor, and liked to joke with everyone. Most of all he loved his family unconditionally, and treasured every minute he spent with his family and friends.   

A celebration of life (funeral) will be held at 1:00pm Sunday, January 19th, 2025 at Williamson Memorial Funeral Home with Pastor Johnny Garrett officiating. Visitation will be 3:00pm-7:00pm Saturday, and 11:00AM-1:00PM Sunday prior to the service.   Daniel Owens, Cliff and Doug Oakley, Joe Harrison Bennett, Daryl Waggoner, and Charles "Bubba" Alexander will serve as pallbearers. Anthony Bruce, Ronnie Mangrum, Randy Mitchell, Steve and Kenny Perry, and Eddie Waller will serve as honorary pallbearers.
