James Powers

March 15, 1961 — November 18, 2018

James ‘Jim' T. Powers, 57, went home to Jesus on Sunday November 18th. He was a resident of Franklin, TN for 24 years, until just recently, when his family relocated to College Grove, TN.

He was born in Fremont Ohio in 1961, son of the late Willard & Patricia Powers. He graduated from the University of Cincinnati, Cincinnati, Ohio with a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering. He worked for General Motors for over 30 years at plants in Ohio, Indiana and Tennessee. He also served the United States Military Forces while working in Afghanistan, Managing Air Operations at Camp Phoenix.

He was preceded in death by his parents and brothers; Thomas and Pug.

Survived by his wife of 28 years of marriage, Anita; daughter Megan Gross; son-in-law Garrett Gross; grandson, Hagen Gross; brother Daniel (Silke) Powers; sisters Sue Silver and Patti (Dan) Foy; father-in-law James V. Bennett and numerous others in extended family.

Jim was a member of Grace Chapel in Leipers Fork. He loved spending time with his family and friends; enjoyed good humor, good books, and a good cigar. In the end he was able to provide the gift of life to others by donating organs. He will be greatly missed.

The family will receive friends from 1 p.m. to 2 p.m. on Thursday, November 29th 2018 at Grace Chapel in Leipers Fork, TN. where celebration of Jim's life will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. for Pastor, Steve Berger, presiding.
