James Edward "Pedro" Smith, Sr. age 75 of Spring Hill, TN, formerly of Pelham, AL and Little Rock, AR. Born November 1944 in Little Rock, AR where he lived for 43 year before moving to Pelham. Died on July 21, 2020 from complications of a heart attack. He formerly attended Dawson Baptist Church, Lakeside Baptist church, both in Birmingham, AL, and Temple Baptist Church (South City Church) of Little Rock, AR. He retired from PPG Industries and Brasfield & Gorrie Construction.
Pedro's faith in God was always at the center of his life. He served as a Sunday school teacher, church accountant, and was an ordained deacon. He loved fishing, baseball and girls fast pitch softball. He was a lifelong Arkansas Razorback fan, but he also loved Auburn Football and University of Tennessee Softball. The biggest joy in his life was his wife, children and his 10 grandchildren. He delighted in watching his grandchildren participate in all their various activities. Pedro had a great sense of humor and you could always count on him for a good conversation.
Preceded in death by his parents, Jack & Bessie Smith; grandson, Ryan Hannon; and sister, Jeanette Cobb. Survived by his loving wife of 54 years, Pam Medenwald Smith of Spring Hill, TN; son, James E. Smith, Jr. of Little Rock, AR; daughters, Kellie (Steve) Hannon of Franklin, TN, Amy (Nick) Hill of Thompson's Station, TN & Leah (Jake) English of Plant City, FL; brothers, Elvis (Punkin) Smith of Conway, AR, Dale (Sherry) Smith of Bryant, AR & Terry (Trena) Smith of Sherwood, AR; sister, Becky Bar of Jacksonville, AR; grandchildren, Bailie, Cailin & Sean Hannon, Abby, Cole & Emma Hill and Trent, Addie & Miller English and many loving, brothers and Sisters-in-laws, nieces & nephews.
A celebration of life service will be held at a later date in Arkansas. In lieu of flowers the family has set up a memorial fund through St. Jude's.
