James (Jim) William Still, age 75 of Brentwood, TN went home to be with the Lord on Friday, June 21, 2019.
Jim was born in Albany, NY on January 14, 1944, son of the late William Edward Still & Ruth Clawson Still.
Jim grew up in Akron, Ohio. He attended Bowling Green State University in Bowling Green, Ohio. He served as a Marine in the Vietnam War and was honored with several medals including the Purple Heart. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. He will always be known and remembered as the man with a big smile and piece of candy. He was very welcoming and always a listening ear for friends or a stranger. Jim kept everyone laughing with his endless jokes. He had a love for people and children. Jim blessed so many lives of all ages. He loved his country, his family, his friends, and most importantly Jesus Christ. There's not a day he didn't bless someone with his prayers and uplifting phone calls.
He was preceded in death by his sister, Judy Williams of Seattle, Washington.
He leaves behind his loving wife, June C. Deal-Still; son, Jonathan James (Stephanie) Still; step-daughters, Sherri (Bobby) Hollars & Julie (Carl) Angel; sister, Mimi Freeman of Goessel, Kansas; three grandchildren, Covey Woods (Taylor), McKenzie Hollars & Sydney Hollars; 2 great-grandchildren, Liam & Noah Woods.
The family will receive friends from 5:00 PM - 8:00 PM on Wednesday, June 26, 2019 at Williamson Memorial Funeral Home, where a funeral service will be held on Thursday, June 27, 2019 at 11:00 AM with Pastor Paul Bane & Pastor Josh Huisman officiating. There will be a visitation one hour prior to funeral service.
Private internment will follow in Middle Tennessee Veterans Cemetery.
Active pallbearers are Patrick Wall, Mel Martin, Pete Peters, Rodney Duncan, Bobby Hollars, Carl Angel, and Ray Walker. Honorary pallbearers are Bud Rutherford, Rick Madden, former employees of Caldwell Mail Advertising, friends at American Legion Post 5, friends at Operation Stand Down, and friends of Young at Heart Rewind Group.
The family wishes to say special thanks to nurse Martha of Kindred Hospice and caregivers, Jodie and Tracy.
In lieu of flowers the family would like donations to be made to New Hope Community Church.
