Janie E. King Deal a lifelong resident of the Hillsboro/Leiper's Fork area, passed away peacefully at her home on February 6, 2025, at the age of 89. Born on January 9, 1936, in Franklin, TN, Janie lived a life filled with love, dedication, and family.
Janie was a devoted mother to her daughters, Margo (Danny) Harris and Velera Mosley, son Steve (Kay) Deal She was a proud grandmother to her grandchildren Cory Harris, Joni Harris, Mannie Harris, Van Dobbs, Pam Dobbs, Cassie Dobbs, Tiffaney Thompson, and Ryan Mosley. Additionally, she was blessed with 16 great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren.
She is survived by her daughters. Janie's legacy will forever be remembered by her loving family, friends, coworkers, and church family. She "mothered" multiple women starting their career in the healthcare field over the years. She began her career in healthcare in 1970 as a nurse's aid at William County Hospital and retired 32 years later from Williamson Medical Center in the cardiac testing department. She saw hundreds of new lives enter into the world, thousands of folks with heart issues, and numerous of folks leave this world. She was a kind and compassionate nurse who treated everyone the same.
Janie was preceded in death by her father, Noah King; her mother, Laura (Furlough) King; her daughter, Patsy Deal; her son, Henry Dobbs; and her husband of 47 years, Bernice Deal. Each of these loved ones left an indelible mark on her heart and she carried their memories with her throughout her life.
Janie Evelyn Deal will be remembered as a loving matriarch and mentor whose kindness and warmth touched all those who knew her. But the "King" attitude did rise up from time to time! Her spirit lives on in the hearts of her family, who will honor her memory with love and gratitude. She was a child of God and looked forward to attending church each week. She was a "Character" with a wicked sense of humor and a quick come back. She was witty and loved a good joke, she had a great cackle of a laugh.
Janie was an animal lover, especially her cats and dogs of which she had many over the years. Some of her favorite "fur babies" were, Mitzy, Millie, and Rags (Raggedy Ann). Precious, Pocahontas (Poke), Perfect Daisy, and Peeping Tom.
The family would like to thank the Leiper's Fork Church of Christ Congregation for their love, support and prayers as well as the staff at Gentiva Hospice who were so kind and helpful during the last year of her life with Alzheimer's. We also want to acknowledge special caregivers Cynthia Cunningham and Madonna Osborne who cared for Janie with so much love and care.
